The Public Narrative of Black Slavery

After 20 years in 1751, Parliament takes control of the colony and says, okay, we'll allow African slaves. And so enslaved people can come from Africa and be workers in this colony. Then it kind of over the years grows into another South Carolina. So the story of Georgia becomes, this is an experiment with white laborers that failed and sort of showed everyone that black laborers are necessary in this climate. That's one of the places you see this really big difference between what's happening in private and the public narrative.
