Mary is very narcissistic I'm not sure she kind of she cares about the class structure to where she is in hierarchy. She gets insulted at various points and she's not introduced in the right order. There's that great moment where Anne is proving herself to be a natural caretaker slash motherly type but her sister twists that around, says like well my problem is I just care too much you wouldn't know what that is like.
