The Utopian Society
I think what's important is not thinking about that future as an inevitability. And i certainly understand where marks is coming from in terms of the idea of a far flung, perfect society as really being a type of pacification. But because of that, it also does not lead to this what i called quietism and what you call pacification. So then there's ths weird kind of middle place, where the utopia has to be determinate enough in order to motivate us to get to work,. but indeterminate enough that the very constitution of the utopia is the working out or working toward that utopic space per se.
