Afterpay: A Payment Slash Digital Commerce Space
Afterpay started in 2014 or 2015 and by the time it expanded to the US, it was already a public company in Australia. The nut that Afterpay cracked was going after a completely different merchant type. So rather than these high value purchases, they went after fashion and beauty exclusively. And so just the low order value made a huge difference in building a substantial consumer brand really, really quickly.
