As a coach, it looks like the same thing as an isolated practice. It's about what shape the athlete is in at particular moments. We're analyzing the lines of forces that are acting on the body. In order to change those Forces, we need to change the lines they operate under. That biomechanical analysis will lead you to be directing the player to change their movements away from what they're currently doing to something else.
