The Importance of Positive Intent in Social Situations
In our minds we think that kids can be horribly mean and confrontational, but maybe it's just not like that. Odds are that if they sat down with a group of kids they're not friends with, there would be that awkward moment. Girls are much more conflict-averse than boys, you know, to overgeneralize a little bit. And once the ice is broken, whether it's a little less awkward because everyone's talking at once or they have their food in front of them, that moment will pass.
