The Problem With Passion
When you are giving feedback, if somebody reacts emotionally, eliminate the words, don't take it personally from your vocabulary. Yesi stick to the issue. Instead ofa focusing on the person necessarily. And i think really often, especially here in silicon valley, we tend to think it is the leader's job to persuade everybody they're building a cathedral to the almighty. But for the guy who is laying bricks maybe he was an atheist and would not have given his work meaning. People find meaning in their work in different ways. Your job as the manager is to get to know each individual well enough to understand what gives meaning to their work.
