Variable Stars - What Are They?

variable stars can vary on brightness by very large magnitudes. This is something that really hasn't been explored in western science only for the last couple of hundred years. Even, you know, sixteenth seventeenth century western astronomy didn't have this as a concept. There's actually a story from the cartha people here in south australia which explores this property of variable stars. It uses the constellation that we spoke about early at orion. And much like his greek counterpart, this is also the story of a fearsome hunter named niruna.
