In the Crowley system, it kind of is implied that it goes linearly. But I don't think it's linear. Like I think that you can enter moments of Shappell Parallis on your way to that and come out of it. So when you get to the territory, there might be things that agree with the map, but they're not the territory. You feel more pain in the world. It doesn't necessarily have to be your own pain, but you become very sensitive to it. And so some things that were kind of you could tolerate before, like people killing each other and whatever, you just sort of realize, "That's just completely stupid"
