Is This Guy Connected to the Samuri?

This movie loves to throw out some tantalizing clues that are never enough for us to form any kind of concrete a hypothesis about what what's going on. It makes mewonder, is this guy connected to the samuri at all? And meanwhile, it keeps hilariously cutting to cat in her art studio, just making the psychic hour glass curse her face. I mean, for all its pretensions, 80 % of this is about the fear that mom can hear you and your girl friend making out in your old room.
