The Role of Genetic Variants in Personality
Every genetic variant every part of the genome we research is related to many outcomes, sometimes in the same direction. Sometimes a variant may increase your risk of developing psychosis but also make you more neurotic. And so this means that there is no naive search in our field for the gene for personality or the gene for extroversion. There is just an ongoing effort to map the effects of our regions of the genome on all kinds of personality.
