Can You Really Train Barefoot?

I injured my big toe on my left foot while wearing shoes and it was taking me, that was taking a long time to heal. I wanted to like really strengthen the muscles in my feet or to heal that. And um, I thought being barefoot more is going to expedate this process. So when I felt like I was going to be able to train again, I was like, okay, I can't take any downward impact. What can I do? It's like, I guess if I climb and never ever, ever fall, then I should be fine, right? So that's exactly what I did.
