Napoleon's Role in Lucian's Life
Napoleon loved his brother dearly, and he probably wanted to spare him some of the mistakes he'd made in his own early years at Brienne. Napoleon took pride in Lucian's achievements, and even kept track of his height to make sure he was growing. The paternal element remained a part of Napoleon's relationship with Lucian for the rest of their lives. After the premature death of their father, it would soon replicate itself with the other siblings as well.
