Catherine had long banned the Gies from enacting a revenge on Collene for this murder. He may not even have been involved, by the way. His name got roped into it. And yeah, he probably didn't have much to do with it. But then she lifts this ban so he's basically back on a possible hit list and approves the plan to assassinate him after the wedding ceremonies end.
