The best evidence suggests that suicides peak in spring, summertime. In December they're low and lowest on Christmas day, but then they peak on New Year's Day. Part of it could be due as we move seasons, there's a change in our sleeping patterns or physical activity. It could also be the fact that if you're struggling with your mood, there's that mismatch between your internal world and your external world. So yes, there are seasonal effects. We need to do more research to understand why they persist.
