I was better known as a blogger back then. I picked recurrent neural networks for my research exam, which is like the second year milestone at UCSD. And so we saw this parallel between clinical time series data and NLP in the sense that you have this kind of unstructured raw data coming in at different times. The sequence of observations some patients have 12 hours of history, some have, you know, two weeks of history,. Some have two months of history. So it's like varying length kind of data. We were right at the right time to write Like the first paper that was like of the modern RNN rush that was applying sort of like these modern sequence models towards prediction
