When she was about four, my daughter said that she wished her skin color wasn't brown. She wanted to wear a braid of Elsa from Frozen Wears and Elsa's Blonde. I knew it was going to have to be, well, she's exposed to all of these images that are all little white kids often blonde. We started to then bring in dolls that had different skin tones and show her films and cartoons of kids from different parts of the world. It did feel a little bit forced in the beginning but I do think it worked.
