Ravel's Symphony No. 2 - The Reunion of Daphnes and Chloe
Ravel writes for no less than the full strings, a full chorus, two harps, five percussions, trombones, trumpets, horns, bassoons, clarionets, oboes and flutes. He doesn't bring the orchestration down like debucy does - he ratchets it up at the climax of the sunrise. This movement depicts the reunion of daphnes and chloe,. And when you hear it, you'll notice that when ravel wants to portray sensuality and even eroticism. It's one of the most miraculous orchestrations ever written down.
