The Color of Blood
There were blood stains throughout the house soaked into the carpet. So they theorize that he dismembered each woman in the bathtub and then the blood went right down the drain. They did not use luminal because luminal would not be widely used for another decade. It's usually a two step process with hydrogen peroxide being the second chemical added. But in essence, you now have this reaction where these agents go from typically colorless to bright pink or bright green.
