The Story of the Samurai - A Novel Review
The older samurai is filled with remorse. He's so upset that he had to do it that he leaves the military and becomes a monk. The story might have been hard for natobe's readers to understand, but american readers had their own stories of sacrifice. It takes something that seems like a very strange and inexplicable anecdote and makes it noble somehow.
