In the late sixteenth century, elizabeth wright hastened to strengthen her control over ireland as this conflict was now well and truly a religious one. And this escalation led directly to the nine years war, beginning in 15 ninty three. The division between protestant and catholic ireland is something that still exists to day, this religious element. Its not gone anywhere.
