Is There a Post-Psychiatry World?

I think the basic question for me now really has to do with the basis of psychiatry's authority. What gives psychiatry authority to treat mental disorders? And if so, then seeing mental disorders as functional rather than dysfunctional would really be a way of challenging Psychiatry's authority. I hate thinking in terms of a post-psychiatry world, but if we ever did enter a post- psychiatric world, I think that would be a much bigger, much bigger part of it. For sure.
