The Name of the Jutes

The name Jutes reflects a later pronunciation change. In an old English translation of Bead, his Latin word for the Jutes was actually translated as Geats. But in other parts of the translation, it is rendered as Jutes. Most modern scholars consider them to be distinct tribes.
