Is the Supreme Court Illegitimate?
The supreme court has unfettered legal power. They, in our system, do decide what the laws mean on a factual level but they require the rest of society to along with it. And so if the public believes the supreme court is illegitimate, well, then it's more likely that large segments of or political society, the politicians that actually run the government, will think that the Supreme Court is illegitimate and choose not to follow them.
