She's a Woman's Voice, You Know?
She really did break an enormous amount of ground in terms of both singing about topical public interest issues, but also writing from a woman's point of view for women. She certainly flirted with the idea that one didn't necessarily have to feel confined by domestic duty entirely. The other thing that really strikes me going back and listening to her songs this weekend is, there's almost like a Trojan horse quality to the way her politics is embedded in her songs.
