The Overpowered Familiar and a New DM, DMing a Second Campaign With More People
A dire wolf is challenge rating one. It's 2d6 plus 3 plus 5 to hit. That's not bad if you're all like level one or two that's really bad. But I feel like you could just like amp everything up to accommodate that if you do. Just because you succeed on an animal handling check doesn't mean that every animal will kill for you. Honestly, and also like animals have their own rich vibrant lives and backstories that can call that can call them away from the person's side,. You know what I would do? I would say let you I let them have the animal and then put the put the dog in repeated pair. This is just a dog
