In British English, chips refers to cooked potato chips. In America, it's different and becomes quite confusing for anyone who's exposed to American English when they hear British people talking about chips. So you have your fish and chips, but then you can also get sausages - Saviloy sausages are like hot dogs. They're long and slim. I take home my fish and chips supper from my chip shop job. But the good thing about working in a chip shop was that I could have anything I wanted to take home for my supper. And depending on where you are in the country, you might have some weird and wonderful things too.
