China has had several goals. They wanted to have an outlet that could also get their say in there, even though the New York Times is by far,. you know, it's not getting the United States's say in there. And so that China would enjoy discourse power akin to that of leading democracies around the world. But I don't think Chinese leaders necessarily understand that.
