Diego Maradona scored a controversial goal in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinals. The Argentinian's left hand was not seen to touch the ball, so it stood. It was voted goal of the century and Argentina went on to win the tournament. To his fans, he proved his sporting genius; to his critics, however, he was a cheat.
