Is Fuka Yama a 'Straw Man'?
Fuka yama says the classical model of rational self interest fails to account for gepolitical conflicts that actually have very little do with quality of life in the narrow sense. I mostly agree with that criticism, but i wouldn't say it's devastating or not devastating. My attitude is, who are the people doing work that incorporate this in a meaningful, concrete way that we can learn more from? There is progress in that direction, but it really is very hard. And that's maybe the somewhat broader context i would want to put frank's remarks into.
