The Mixed Bag of the American Revolution
In 1909, Herb Crowley published the book "The promise of American life," which to this day remains the playbook for the progressive movement. From that day forward, you get a very different perspective on governance and what's possible at the Federal level. And government then becomes not an umpire to keep things moving, but a tool to accomplish social good. But I think we have to conclude that it's at best a mixed bag.
