The Role of Interpersonal Emotion Regulation in Children

As children grow older, they perhaps acquire a wider array of interpersonal emotion regulation strategies. This depends on other emotional competencies that will develop as children development and grow. For example, we need to understand how the other person might feel in certain situations. And we also need to understand that potentially, but this person might feel might be different to how I may feel in that situation. So it's not going to be very cognitively sophisticated until they reach an age where they're capable of engaging in these more complex strategies.
