The History of the Benin Bronzes
The Benin bronzes were created in context of slave trade between kingdoms in West Africa and European states. In the 20th century, claims began to be made by Native American organizations for the return of human remains for burial. The Congress Passes Lord says that if you can trace a relationship between human remains in this museum and a living indigenous people, they should be returned for burial. But there are all sorts of problems: it's not always clear whose remains they are.
