In the end of the essay, you refer to continet's approach as a conservatism of surrender. You make an astute observation that conservatism emerges only when society loses its intuitive commitment to continuity of tradition. But oftentimes it sounds as if conservatives are a little bit behind history, shouting, wait for me instead. If you concede too much to this ideological system, which is constantly transforming our lives and our laws, you may wind up simply plain catchup with the progressivism of no 20 years earlier.
