When Gandalf dies it changed the dynamic and broke the fellowship even though it doesn't technically happen till later. A therapist could speak to this but isn't that grief often fractures right like you go even the strongest of relationships can fracture under um under grief? On the patriarch or the matriarch dies the makeup of the family always goes through a shift because someone else must step into that. And we see that all happen really quick in this movie. We see three separate branches happen.
