The Strangeness of Hoffer's Writing Style

Hoffer was a trade unionist and not just a member of the longshoreman's union. He has this very aphoristic writing styles, epigramatic writing style that is not empirical or evidentiary or essayistic. It's a series of aphorisms that are clearly the concentrated form of considered deliberate reflection. They're easy to read, but as Phil pointed out, they stick with you and they're not glib.
