How Do Shards Work?

Each of those shards is this two dimensional character that embodies the intent of their name. The power to ruin is still the driving force of that shard, but how that plays out is different. To make an analogy to our own universe and maybe some mythology that people are familiar with, you have the evil force, the anic force, of traditional christianity which is like the opposing force to god's will. You could say that satan is ruin and god is preservation.
