The Slow Burn of Commercial Real Estate

Every day now a major publication media outlet is talking about this pending commercial real estate collapse. I think the thing that people have to keep in mind is that there's clearly pain to come, it's going to be a slow burn. The issue is that as the Fed has raised interest rates by 500 basis points or 5% over the last year, the cost of funds has gone up dramatically for borrowers. While a borrower may not like the rate at which he or she is borrowing, there is capital to borrow and that is dramatically different from the great financial crisis.
