The Importance of Ideophones in a Language

It used to be thought that ideophones were completely outside the normal syntax of a language. They're just thrown in in part of the narrative to sort of add color and description to what's going on. And eventually you'll come to the point where sometimes the description of something is better done in a more symbolic way. In fact, it was me dreading doing another translation of the sun in the North wind that inspired me to add ideophones to one language.
