The Concept of Blessing

I used to run a poetry series on the border between England and Wales in Chepseter. One of the poets that I've eventually managed to get was the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams. He came along and he gave a fantastic reading with a wonderful Pakistani Indian poet called Imtiaz Dhaka. They could not be more apart, but they created a wonderful evening. And it was almost like Darshan. Just by being with someone, he would look at them, drink them in, and just by being there would bless them. That's the gift of blessing. We don't do enough of it. You have to somehow experience not being blessed to then bless yourself.
