The Atonement of the People of Israel
In exodus, chapter 30, verses 11 t 16, moses was instructed to take money from each of the people as a ransom for their lives. Despite similarities between these two episodes, there are also important differences. Michael fishbain writes: The gift of a censess expiation was made by the chief officers alone, not those in the ranks. And third, the sacral offering was specifically used for the building of the tent of meeting and was not a general gift.
