The Physics of Nuclear Explosion
There's two ways to make a nuclear explosion: fission and fusion. Fission is when you're cracking a big, heavy atom open with an axe. Fusion is the opposite - sticking two light atoms together to make a heavier one. The energy that's released from fusion has to do with the kind of energy structure of the nucleus.
