Is imitation a valuable approach or should an artist strive to be original? We just combine things in a new way. A and my favourite example is tom waites. To him, it was not, wo, amazing original. It's he knows exactly what he's doing. And so i think even the most quorunquote, original or sophisticated and complex musicians know exactly what ingredients they're combining.
