What Are the Sleep Cycles?
A sleep cycle is a 90 minute block of time where you go through stage two, three, four sleep and then into REM. While the percentage of each sleep cycle that's REM increases with every cycle. Once you've had five sleep cycles, which is seven and a half hours of sleep, the next one will be potentially more REM than non-REM.
