Amy Semple McPherson went for a swim on May 18th. Lifeguards didn't come out until the Memorial Day weekend so there were no lifeguards on duty. The next day, the Los Angeles Evening Post ran front page above the fold coverage of the disappearance. They proceeded to serialize her life story over the course of the next several days with this editor's note.
