In May 2022, the FT reported EY was planning to split itself into two parts. This would have been the biggest change in the accounting and consulting industry since Enron collapse. Michael O'Dwyer says this move would have forced the other three big firms to seriously consider doing the same. If it had gone well, it would have been difficult for the rest of the big four not to follow.
