The Government's Role in the Psychokinetic Arms Race
The impetus for this began in the late 40s when word began to leak out of the Soviet Union that they were working on just this kind of thing. The United States didn't want to be left behind, and so they decided they would start to do this too. That part of that is part of the infamous and horrendous work that was done by the CIA over many years called MKUltra. It was something that the government was pursuing, but somewhere along the line, the line was crossed.
