Okay. So let me just say something real quick here. I am beyond impressed at your spontaneity and answering. And like in picking that back up, that was excellent. Very much. Well done. Let me applaud you.
Speaker 1
Thank you. Thank you.
Speaker 2
Because we have to get to the next question, but we do, we will continue this conversation and the, and the, and the stuff on Patreon for sure. Because I kind of want to talk to you about like Amazon and Audible and all that kind of stuff too, because it would be great if there will be some decentralization there. I totally agree with you. Um, we also already kind of talked a little bit about voice acting in lit RPG. Um, what's different about it? Um, but yeah, tell me more about that.
Speaker 1
Nothing.
Speaker 2
Nothing is different.
Speaker 1
It's just, I think it's just positioning as far as timing. You know, um, it's a new, it's a new genre. Um, and it just so happened that ACX was kind of gaining ground at the time that lit RPG came around. So people like me found, oh, hey, this is a budding genre. I came in like right, right after people started discovering, oh wait, we can make money here. Um, so the big, the big narrators just happens to see, oh, look, this is, these are the people who are paying right now. So, so those are the jobs they took. I don't think that's all that. Yeah, I don't think there's any reason why lit RPG works better in audio than any other genre. Like specific to the content itself. I think it's all about the operation. Yeah,
Speaker 2
because I think like it works so well because of the length. People getting more and the distribution model of audible, which is one credit per book. So people do get a lot of book credit. Like you get a lot of, um, it makes it seem more valuable, even though you're still paying $9.99.
Speaker 1
I mean, maybe, but look at Epic fantasy. Epic fantasy's probably got a higher page count on average. Then book, then lit RPG.
Speaker 2
I don't think so.
Speaker 1
You don't think so? I mean, look at, I don't think so. Look at like Wheel of Time, look at, uh, you know, look, look at Game of Thrones. Um, I don't know.
Speaker 2
Wheel of Time, I think has 200,000
Speaker 1
words. Yes. Less than 200,000.
Speaker 2
Actually has 300,000. You are completely right. I am surprised. I, I for sure thought that lit RPG has had like more words than I of the world.
Speaker 1
I don't, I don't think so. And, and this current trend of what RPG being. Thicker novels. I don't think that was how it was from the, from the get go either.
Speaker 2
Oh, no, it wasn't.
Speaker 1
I think it was very much like romance. Yeah, it was like the, this thicker novel thing came because lit RPG was doing so well in audio. And because authors knew about that hack, right? Oh, the longer my book is, the better, the more valuable it's going to be on audible.
Speaker 2
And also it's serialized anyway. So why not just put my, I don't know, prime hunter. Big chunk. Yeah, put another.
Speaker 1
Yeah, I mean, like you can come up with, you know, more reasons why lit RPG is more is better in audio than anything else. If you want, I'll, I'll try and address any, any reason you might have, but I, I firmly believe it's just market. It's just how, how it happened to come about. Timing wise, which
Speaker 2
is not a bad thing.
Speaker 1
No, not at all for a certain. Certainly not.
Speaker 2
Yeah. No, I mean, you know, I don't think for the reader, I think for the reader or listener, I also don't think it's a bad thing. And the end, everyone kind of wins. Yeah.
Speaker 1
I mean, that's, that's maybe another reason, right? Like, like I said before, there's a lot, there's a huge portion of the lit RPG reader base that didn't read for fun until they found lit RPG. The same can be said about audio, right? People weren't, didn't even know that audio books were a thing until they started finding their favorite lit RPG stuff on Audible.
Speaker 2
And then listening to that. Yeah, exactly. I mean, I started a lit, lit RPG because I found he who finds the monsters on Audible. I mean, I had read, um, sufficient, the advanced magic before, but it didn't really grip me at the time. And now that I've read it again, I'm like, okay, I can see what he's going with this. But, um, yeah, I got here for months because it was the longest book I could find in Audible. That was all the reason for reasons to do it. And yeah. Great. All right. I kind of want to ask more, but I kind of have to go on to, um, one book that you love and why is it awesome?
Speaker 1
One book that I love. Okay. Do you want me to, do you want me to put forth a surprising answer or just?
Speaker 2
Okay.
