The Iliad and the Blacksmith
Homer tells you in verse who he was, who his father was, what they used to do, where they lived. So the character shows up for nothing but to get clubbed by Achilles. Except that it's not a nothing character because none of them are. They're all people with histories and pasts and there's no rush. And then he talks about the blacksmith because town life is still going on. It's such a good storyteller. Yeah.
