"Chicken Patriarchy is chicken because it isn't willing to take a stand on one side of the question or the other," he says. "It calls itself egaletarian sometimes, while actually abiding by most traditional patriarchal structures and belief systems." He adds that if patriarchy is god's will, why continue to cling to patriarchal language and women's ritual submission to men? The church sends an abundance of mixed signals in advocating for a softening of hard patriarchy, but not doing anything to actually change any kind of policy or official church doctrine, he argues.
